For thousands of years different cultures around the world have understood the therapeutic value of heating the body for better health, healing and vitality. They observed that the body’s natural response to healing itself was to do just that causing what we know as a temperature. The ancients took the cue from the body and created various ways to emulate this natural response. Today sauna sessions are as luxurious as they are healing. With the combination of therapeutic heat within a soothing and healing environment a saunas session should be a part of any health or healing regiment.

• How does a soft heat sauna differ from a conventional sauna?
Soft heat penetrates deep into the body causing you to sweat more. It is capable of moving more toxins and toxic metals out of the body. Most dry heat saunas heat the body from the out side in, preventing you from staying in long enough to get the proper effect.

A sauna session can be any where from 10 to 25mins but can be extended to as much as 45mins. We suggest that you start off with 15 to 20 mins and work your way up to your tolerance level. Never go beyond your tolerance level because this would only defeat the purpose of your session. We strongly advise not going beyond 30mins for the first few session.
• Are there any contraindications?
Because circulation increases during sauna sessions we suggest that persons with heart condition or high blood pressure consult with their physician before doing a sauna. If you feel drained after a session it’s because you’ve stayed in to long. Doing an alternate hot/cold shower will help to increase your energy level.
• How does this treatment interact with other modality of healing?
A sauna session is a great adjunct to almost any modality of healing. It works well with massage, colon hydrotherapy, aromatherapy and chiropractic sessions as well as herbal and nutritional therapies. Combined with aromatherapy it helps to relieve congestion and sinus congestion.
• What should I expect after a session?
You should feel relax but energized after a sauna. Your circulation would have been boosted and toxins released allowing for the freer flow of nutrients throughout the body.
• What should I wear in the sauna?
We suggest light clothing such as a towel, robe, swimwear, etc. We at Geb Hetep provide the necessary wear for our sauna sessions.
• How many sessions are recommended and how should I space them?
The number of session needed should be based on individual objectives. The individual should decide what is best suited for him or her. For the detoxification of metals we suggest a series of 10 to 15 sessions, 1 to 2 per week in conjunction with colonics or detox program to optimize the benefit of the sauna sessions. We also recommend a nutritional program that includes vitamin C, vegetable juices and other supplement to replenish the body after each sauna session. For a maintenance regiment 1-4 sessions a month is advisable.
• What is the best time of the year to do a sauna?
Saunas can be done year round. In the warmer weather the effect of the sauna would last a little longer due to the fact that when the body is heated it would naturally open the pores to cool down the body. In the winter however when the air outside of the body is colder the body would automatically close the pores to preserve the internal heat.

Taking a shower right after a session is recommended to rinse off toxic residue that has been pushed to the surface of the skin. Alternating the hot and cold water will invigorate the body.
